Xiangxi cultural and tourism promotion event kicks off

The cultural and tourism promotion event of “Celebrating the New Year in Mysterious Xiangxi” was launched in Yongshun County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture on January 16, allowing tourists to enjoy the charm of Xiangxi folk culture. The Dragon New Year is around the corner. On the day, a “folk custom appreciation team” consisting of excellent and popular tour guides from all over the province visited Xiangxi Prefecture, where they embarked on a 5-day immersive experience of the New Year customs in Laosicheng, Zhushan Miao Village and Morong Miao Village. They will shoot videos of tourism destinations in Hunan to provide travel guides for tourist and promote colorful New Year’s customs, traditional festivals, palatable food and picturesque scenery in various regions. At the Jieguandu Ferry Pier of Laosicheng, a performance of “Tusi’s Warpath” was staged to reproduce the passionate scene of Peng Yinan, Xizhou Tusi, leading thousands of local soldiers to fight against the Japanese invaders. Besides, various intangible cultural heritage performances were presented in turns in Laosicheng, such as Tujia folk song duets, Tujia hand-waving dance and wedding songs.
